Vince's charity barbecue cooks up funds for seniors programs

Vince’s has raised $16,600 for CHATS through its Community Product Initiative

Community & Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS) is an organization that in addition to providing transportation, meals, and caregiver relief, offers a one-stop-shop of programs and services designed to meet the needs of older adults.

Their team was on hand in the parking lot of Vince's store in Sharon June 23 to offer information about the challenges faced by the older population and marking the halfway point of an important fundraising campaign. Vince’s Community Product Initiative in 2023 will provide financial support to CHATS.

“Many of us have older parents and relatives who may suffer from health, cognitive and/or mobility issues, yet would like to live in their homes as long as possible,” said Giancarlo Trimarchi, president of Vince’s Market, in a news release. “It is nice to know there are organizations whose mission is to help make this happen.”

CHATS can inspire them to explore the possibilities of aging at home and living more independently, while supporting caregivers, so that they can continue providing compassionate care for their loved ones, the release added.

Since the beginning of the year, Vince’s has raised $16,600 for CHATS through its Community Product Initiative (CPI) and an additional $500 from the June 23 barbecue.

CPI relies on the support of customers and vendors, setting aside 15 per cent of sales of the designated Community Product to be accrued for that year’s recipient. Since its inception in 2018, CPI has raised nearly $130,000 for several life-changing organizations, and is expecting big results in 2023 for CHATS.

“I’m thrilled to see so many of our own CHATS clients drop by the barbecue to show their support and share success stories on how our organization has changed their lives,” said CHATS vice-president of philanthropy and communications Kelly Broome.

“Not only will these funds raised by the team at Vince’s Market help CHATS to support more older adults in our community, but it has also created awareness within the community. Notably within the Vince’s team, learning and sharing their own stories about CHATS."
