Steve Paikin — prominent journalist, author and longtime anchor of TVO’s The Agenda — has joined Village Media's The Trillium as a weekly columnist during the ongoing labour dispute at Ontario’s public broadcaster.

"During the duration of this work stoppage, I am happy to be writing my weekly column for The Trillium," Paikin said during a recent appearance on Village Media's Inside the Village podcast. "It's a really good go-to place for provincial affairs information and knowledge. Good columns. Good articles. You've got talented people running the place. I'm happy to be affiliated with it — for now."
Along with hosting The Agenda, Paikin wrote a column for TVO's website. All that is on hold while the strike drags on.
"I think when I write things and people comment back to me on them — and we have this engagement online back and forth — I think it makes all of us smarter," he said on the podcast. "I think that whole process of engagement over an issue that is of mutual interest just makes everybody a little more enlightened at the end of the day. At least that is the hope."
