Tragically Hip tribute packs the house at Newmarket's first summer concert (14 photos)

About 1,000 music lovers kicked off the free summer concert series

About 1,000 music lovers turned out Thursday night to kick off the free, TD Newmarket summer music series at Riverwalk Commons that runs until Aug. 22.

Tragically Hip tribute band, Practically Hip headlined, with Ron Fleming and Lawrence Walters opening the show.

Next Thursday, July 11, features a tribute to Elton John with Bennie and the Jets. Opening act Bianca Rollo gets the show going at 6:30 p.m.

Here's what you need to know to enjoy the show:

  • Bring your own lawn chair (chairs provided in beer garden only)
  • Beer garden and barbecue hosted by Cachet Restaurant and Market Brewing Company ($)
  • Please arrive early to secure a spot.

  • Guests are welcome to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Newmarket Food Pantry. Newmarket Food Pantry donation bins will be located at the Town of Newmarket booth on Riverwalk Commons.
