Retiree Jacobus Vandenbrink of Sutton West is sharing the joy of his $57,426 lottery windfall with his children.

Vandenbrink won the Poker Lotto All In jackpot worth $52,426.30 on Jan. 25, and another $5,000 on the instant portion of his Poker Lotto play, bringing his total winnings to $57,426.30.

This is the first big win for the 67-year-old former automotive industry worker, who said he’s been playing the lottery for decades.

“I’ve had several smaller wins with this game over the years, but this is my first big win,” he said at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

Jacobus discovered his win while at the store.

“I know the store clerk and when I asked to play another two lines of Poker Lotto All In, he said, ‘The jackpot’s been claimed. I think you won it.’” he said. “I didn’t realize how much I won. I was so happy. It is such a thrill to win big.”

As well as sharing the win with his children, he said, “I might treat myself to something special or fun.”

The winning ticket was purchased at 5 Corners Convenience on The Queensway in Keswick.
