Smile Cookies return to local Tims in support of Inn From the Cold

Support Newmarket's homeless shelter by buying Smile Cookies from May 1 to 7

Smile Cookie season is back already and local Tim Hortons locations are once again supporting Inn From the Cold.

For the first time Tim Hortons is holding Smile Cookie week in the spring, from May 1 to 7.

Proceeds from the sales of cookies in Newmarket, Aurora and East Gwillimbury locations will go toward Inn From the Cold's homeless shelter and housing programs. This is the second time the shelter has been the benefactor of the campaign, as it was also chosen to receive the proceeds of the last Smile Cookie week in the fall.

"It's a great opportunity and we're really happy to have been selected," executive director Ann Watson said when Inn From the Cold was first chosen.

"It's so well known in the community to support different not-for-profits, so it does double-duty: it raises funds but it also raises the profile of our project and Inn From the Cold and that's always a good thing," she said in the fall.

Tim Hortons across the country will be selling the special chocolate chip cookies with pink and blue faces next week for $1.50 plus tax. One hundred per cent of the proceeds go to a charity that's local to each restaurant.

This year there will also be Smile Cookie pins with four unique designs to choose from. They cost $2 at participating restaurants and the proceeds again support local charities.
