AURORA – The Secondary Arts Program is an intensive arts program for artistically talented students in York Region. The program offers a package of specialized arts credits that count toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
Upcoming information nights will be held:
- Alexander Mackenize High School (300 Major Mackenzie Dr. W., Richmond Hill, 905-884-0554): Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Richmond Hill Centre for Performing Arts
- Westmount Collegiate Institute (1000 New Westminster Dr., Thornhill, 905-882-0277): Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Westmount Collegiate Institute
- Unionville High School (201 Town Centre Blvd., Unionville, 905-479-2787): Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Flato Markham Theatre (Reserve a seat online starting Oct. 1 or call 905-479-2787 ext. 431)
- Huron Heights Secondary School (40 Huron Heights Dr., Newmarket, 905-895-2384): Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, 7 p.m. at Newmarket Theatre
Students may apply to study one of the arts program disciplines, including: dance, drama, visual arts and music (vocal and instrumental). Some schools offer piano, string and theatre technology.
There are four secondary schools offering the Specialized Arts program in the York Region District School Board. These include:
- Unionville High School
- Alexander Mackenzie High School
- Westmount Collegiate Institute
- Huron Heights Secondary School
