Work will include road resurfacing, guardrail replacements, and intersection improvements

Road work on Bathurst from Henderson to Mulock will run from April until fall.

Road improvements on Bathurst Street will cause lane restrictions from Henderson Drive in Aurora to Mulock Drive in Newmarket starting later this month.

The work, which is scheduled to last until fall 2022, will include road resurfacing, repairs to curbs and catch basins, guardrail replacements and line painting.

There will also be upgrades to the intersections. Some improvements to meet Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements will include adding audio crossing signals and tactile markers to alert people with no or low vision of hazards.

Other intersection improvements will include new traffic control signals and illumination. Temporary signals will be put in place during the construction period.

There will be lane reductions as a result of the construction from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and weekends.

"We understand road construction creates challenges for the community and we are working to deliver this project with minimal disruption. Thank you for your patience during the construction period," York Region said in a construction notice.

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained during construction.
