Richmond Hill celebrates Seniors Month with annual free barbecue

The City of Richmond Hill is hosting activities throughout June to celebrate the significant contributions seniors make to the community.

The Seniors Month festivities kick off June 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Mill Pond Park with the annual adults 55+ barbecue. The free event offers an afternoon of fun and entertainment featuring The Wong Mo Trio. The 2023 Senior of the Year Award will be presented during the event, according to a City of Richmond Hill news release.

Other adults age 55+ activities are taking place at the Oak Ridges Community Centre, with registration required, including: 
    •    Ice Cream Social June 21 at 1 p.m. where residents can enjoy an ice cream cone and views of the lake while listening to live music.
    •    Experience Drums Alive June 7 at 1:45 p.m., move to the beat of the music and your own drumming rhythms.
    •    Learn To Play Chess June 13 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. is a great way to learn from those experienced in the game, socialize and improve your skills! For the full month’s line up and to register, visit the website.
