Some Newmarket residents remain without power after a storm came through the area last night.

Newmarket-Tay Power reported outages around 10 p.m. July 20 as a thunderstorm made its way through the region. The electricity provider said there were downed poles, and broken tree limbs on Patterson Street.

Although power was restored in most parts impacted, Mountview Place remains without power as crews work to repair downed polls.

The company estimated that the power would be restored by the afternoon. About 17 customers are presently affected.

Environment Canada reported a severe thunderstorm in the region, with damaging winds and the possibility of gusts up to 100 km/h.

NT Power reported a separate outage earlier this month that knocked out energy for hundreds.
