NEWS RELEASE
REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF YORK
****************************
The Regional Municipality of York has closed Kennedy Road from Mount Albert Road to Doane Road in the Town of East Gwillimbury to repair a wooden bridge.

York Region takes the safety of all residents and travellers very seriously. Upon staff inspection, a wooden bridge on Kennedy Road, 1.3 kilometres north of Mount Albert Road, was determined unsafe to cross and closed immediately.

There is no access to the bridge for motorists, cyclists or pedestrians. There will be access for local traffic only on Kennedy Road on either side of the bridge. Electronic message boards have been placed in the area directing motorists to go around the road closure.

The length of the closure is unknown at this time. Regular updates will be shared on York.ca and on Facebook and Twitter.

We appreciate the patience of residents and motorists as we work to fix the bridge as quickly as possible.
