Pop-up clinics coming to Aurora, East Gwillimbury, as York Region hits 1.1M vaccinations given

With more than 1.1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in York Region, the COVID-19 vaccination rollout continues with additional appointments opening Monday and pop-up clinics in East Gwillimbury and Aurora next weekend.

The Ontario Ministry of Health is hosting the additional clinics next weekend, July 10 and 11, according to York Region spokesperson Patrick Casey.

The East Gwillimbury clinic, which will offer both first and second doses of the Moderna vaccine to eligible individuals, will be held at sports complex at 1914B Mount Albert Rd. from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Individuals who attended the pop-up clinic in East Gwillimbury last May will have the first opportunity at booking a second dose appointment, Casey said.

The pop-up vaccination clinic in Aurora will be held at the Aurora Community Centre at 1 Community Centre Lane and Aurora Heights Drive from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

First and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be available for individuals age 12 and older who live, work or go to school in York Region

Second doses will be offered for individuals age 12 and older following a 28-day interval between the first and second dose, Casey said.

Appointments are required at both clinics and can be booked by visiting york.ca/COVID19Vaccine, and walk-in appointments are not available.
