Police appeal for witnesses in Vaughan shooting homicide

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have arrested three suspects and are appealing to witnesses to come forward following a murder in Vaughan.

On Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, shortly after 8 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a plaza at 3850 Steeles Ave. West for a report of the sound of gunshots. When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old male victim at the rear of the plaza, in the parking lot, suffering from gunshot wounds. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.

Officers learned that multiple people were seen fleeing from the scene in a vehicle.

With the assistance of the Toronto Police Service, the suspect vehicle was located in Toronto and three suspects, all in their teens, were taken into custody.

The scene at 3850 Steeles Ave. West is being held for further investigation and investigators will be in the area canvassing for witnesses and video footage.

Investigators have been interviewing witnesses and will be following up on information gained through this co-operation. Any additional witnesses that may have seen or heard anything in the area leading up to or following the shooting are asked to contact police. Investigators are also appealing to any nearby businesses or residences that may have video surveillance, or any drivers who may have dashcam footage to please come forward.
