The Town of Georgina has a number of spring-cleaning activities to keep the town beautiful and help you get rid of unwanted items.

Street sweeping

Street sweeping operations are underway. This annual cleaning event removes winter sand and debris from town roads. If you have sand on your driveway or sidewalk, sweep it onto the edge of the road for removal by the street sweeper. Residents are asked to avoid parking on town streets during this time to allow sweepers to clean the roadway.

Yard waste pickup

Yard waste pickup collection resumes the week of April 15 and continues every other week until the end of November. Check the waste calendar, download the free Recycle Coach app or visit georgina.ca/WasteandRecycling for details. Contact Green for Life at 1-866-421-5625 or [email protected] with any collection concerns.

Pitch-In Week

April 15 to 21 is Pitch-In Week across Canada. Residents can participate by helping to clean up areas in the community as individuals, families or groups. The town provides gloves and bags that can be picked up at the Civic Centre. Contact Service Georgina at 905-476-4301, ext. 3001, or [email protected] once waste is collected so staff can dispose of it appropriately.

Curbside Giveaway

Clear out the clutter in your home. Curbside Giveaway begins April 27 and runs monthly until October. Put unwanted items at the curb from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other residents/neighbours can then take these items free of charge. Any unclaimed items must be removed by 5 p.m. and can only be put to the curb on the selected dates.

Electronic recycling event and Swap 'n’ Sell

This popular annual event takes place at the Ice Palace Saturday, May 11 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Find deals at the Swap n’ Sell and dispose of any unwanted electronics. Remember to remove batteries and erase anything stored on your electronic devices before recycling. Vendor participation is free with a donation to the Georgina Community Food Pantry. Prior registration is required by calling Service Georgina at 905-476-4301, ext. 3001, or [email protected].

Adopt-a-Road

The Town of Georgina offers Adopt-a-Road, a volunteer opportunity that helps keep roadways safe and litter free for all. Anyone can adopt a road and make a meaningful contribution to keeping Georgina beautiful.
