On Friday, Shyam Subramanyam, a Grade 10 student at Pickering College in Newmarket, will attend the Student Budget Consultation event hosted by CIVIX, a non-partisan, organization dedicated to building active and engaged citizenship among young Canadians.

Shyam is one of just 10 Ontario students selected to contribute to a discussion with the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, at this virtual youth roundtable.

Deputy Prime Minister Freeland is speaking directly with young Canadians, in her role as minister of finance, regarding their priorities for the upcoming federal budget. Student participants will have an opportunity to voice their priorities and Ms. Freeland will respond directly to their concerns as part of the official pre-budget consultation process.

Pickering College is very proud to have Shyam represent the school and his fellow students at this important roundtable discussion.
