Lucky Lion Night Market offers over 100 different food items.

Lucky Lion Night Market is returning to York Region with pop-ups in both Newmarket and Richmond Hill.

After coming to Markham in June, the night market will be in Richmond Hill at Hillcrest Mall from Thursday, July 27 to Sunday, July 30 and in Newmarket from Friday, Aug. 11 to Sunday, Aug. 13 at Upper Canada Mall.

The event will include a bar and DJ, merchants, interactive lion dancing, workshops and crafts, food, photo ops, performances, and more.

“Indulge in over 100 food items and merchants unlike any other food festival,” the website for the market said. "Interact with our show-stopping lion dancers well into the night. Learn about community members and how you can make an impact. Our mission is to create accessible community events that construct positive perceptions of diversity and welcome active community participation.”

Sprout Organization, which puts on the market, is a youth-led non-profit organization that “strives to curate meaningful experiences in the communities in which it serves.”

Founded in 2019, Sprout has since organized five summer events in three cities across Ontario with the vision to “empower and uplift the next generation by focusing on the preservation of culture and tradition.”

In Richmond Hill, the pop-up will kick off on July 27 from 3 to 11:30 p.m. and continue on July 28 and 29 from 2 to 11:30 p.m., and July 30 from 1 to 8 p.m.

In Newmarket, the market will run from 3 p.m. to midnight on Aug. 11, 2 p.m. to midnight on Aug. 12, and 1 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 13. Admission to the market is free.
