Newmarket's fundraising sisters offer free tutoring, fresh produce to families in need

Manha and Laiba Yusuf donated $1,100 to Rose of Sharon and $414 to Inn From the Cold after a successful Valentine's Day fundraiser

After wrapping up their latest drive, Newmarket's fundraising sisters have already started on their next campaign to support the community.

Manha and Laiba Yusuf donated $1,100 to Rose of Sharon and $414 to Inn From the Cold after a successful Valentine's Day fundraiser.

The girls sold roses and fruit and nut platters to raise a total of $1,514 for the local organizations. They dropped off the funds at each of the Newmarket locations and are already starting their next campaign.

They are now offering free tutoring sessions for grades 1 to 5 in math, reading and writing, as well as providing fresh produce for those in low-income households.

Those seeking support can get in touch with the Yusuf family by filling out the forms on their website

Manha and Laiba have been nominated for the 2022 Women of Excellence Awards by NewRoads and Newmarket Chamber of Commerce. The award winners will be announced in a ceremony on March 9 for International Women's Day.

This is the lastest in a series of recognition the girls have received, after they won the Community Spirit Award from Upper Canada Mall and the chamber in January, awards from MPP Christine Elliott in July 2021, and Manha received an international Diana Award for her work.
