One food establishment in York Region was charged for a public health violation by York Region inspectors last week.

Starbucks in Newmarket, 1A - 27 Harry Walker Pkwy. S., was charged on Oct. 19 for failing to provide hand washing stations with adequate supplies, according to the report for inspections made Oct. 16 to 22 by York Region Community and Health Services, health protection division.

The charge stemmed from a re-inspection after an initial inspection on Oct. 16 found that the food establishment was not in compliance with its hand washing stations.

Food education was carried out on site with temporary measures put in place prior to the re-inspection. During the re-inspection, York Region health inspectors flagged the Starbucks once again for its hand washing stations not having adequate supplies and charged the coffeehouse.

Food education was once again carried out and a second re-inspection will be conducted at a later date.

The inspection reports represent the condition of the restaurants at the date and time of the inspection only and does not guarantee or warrant the condition of the food premises at any other time, the public health unit states.
