Residents of Newmarket and beyond can enjoy fireworks, music, buskers and more as the town celebrates Canada Day July 1.

The free Canada Day festivities include a daytime concert and festival with four performer stages around the Riverwalk Commons and Main Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. That will be followed up by an evening concert and fireworks from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

“This festival always brings out thousands of Newmarket residents to come together and enjoy a fun-filled day for people of all ages,” the town said on social media.

The town will have multiple performers and stages set up for the festivities, as well as vendors, rides on the Tim Hortons Express Train, face painting and more.

The Lonely Hearts will perform on the Riverwalk Commons main stage from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The town is setting up three other stages across Timothy Street and Main Street.

A busker stage at Timothy Street and Main Street will alternate between The FireGuy and Mighty Mike. The stage at Main Street and Botsford Street will feature performances by duos Genevieve Cyr and Brad Canning as well as JJ and Alyssa. The second Main Street stage at Water Street will have performers Bianca Rollo and Cale Crowe.

That will all be followed by an evening concert at George Richardson Park on Bayview Parkway, featuring the Newmarket Citizens Band followed by the band Switchbeat. The town will then be holding its own fireworks display from about 10:10 to 10:30 p.m.

Attendees at both events can enter a contest to win Tim Horton's coffee for a year.

There will also be a complimentary bus shuttle service provided by telMAX that will run from the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex and Magna Centre, dropping people off at downtown Newmarket. The shuttles will also travel back to those locations.

You can find more information about the contest and shuttle times at newmarket.ca/canadaday.
