A Newmarket mom and her son are all smiles after winning a lottery prize together.

Joyce Dew and Paul Moffatt have $135,984.60 to put toward their dreams after winning a Lotto Max second prize in the Oct. 7, 2022 draw.

Dew and Moffatt have been playing the lottery together for five years, the OLG said in a news release.

“I started playing with my mom so we could have something to do together,” Moffatt told staff at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where they picked up their winnings.

“When I scanned the ticket on the OLG App and saw $135,984, I was shocked!” added Moffatt.

“I went to the store to validate the ticket and the machine froze," Dew said. "I was so excited!”

Moffatt plans to use his share of the winnings to make life easier and invest.

“I will share some with family and take a trip to Niagara Falls,” Dew concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Newmarket Smokes & Convenience on Davis Drive in Newmarket.
