Newmarket Mayor John Taylor is inviting residents to discuss the town’s future with him.

The town is hosting a new in-person community event, Town Hall Tonight, April 25, at which the mayor will be discuss the local economy, housing options, municipal finances and Mulock Park, as well as takes questions from residents.

“We hope to see you all there,” the municipality said in a news release.

The municipality has not hosted a town hall event like this in recent years.

Newmarket's chamber of commerce holds an annual luncheon attended by local businesses and leaders at which the mayor highlights progress in the town. This year, the mayor discussed continued business development, the need to build more housing to help house employees, and the sewage capacity challenges the municipality still faces.

"This is a special place to live. There is a strong community spirit, we take care of everyone in this community, and we have a strong local economy," Taylor said during the March 26 event.

The free event will happen at the Old Town Hall at 360 Botsford St. on Thursday, April 25 at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
