Toronto Police have arrested a 25-year-old Newmarket man following a shooting at a memorial for a slain Toronto rapper on June 9.

Gaddiel Ledinek was arrested and now faces four charges, including discharging a firearm with intent to wound, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and failure to comply with a release order.

This comes after gunfire was exchanged at a memorial for rapper Demarjio Jenkins, who was also known as Houdini.

According to police, a large crowd was gathered in a parking lot at 55 Beverly Hills Dr. near Highway 401 when at least one person in a car travelling west on the highway fired shots into the crowd.

Police state that the crowd ran for cover but at least nine people in the parking lot began firing toward the highway, where numerous other cars were driving by.

Two people suffered gunshot wounds as a result of this shooting and were taken to the hospital, but Toronto Police do not say if the victims were in the crowd or on the highway.

Along with Ledinek, two other people have been arrested in connection with this incident.

Twenty-one-year-old Traequan Mahoney of Brampton and 37-year-old Maurice Donegan of Toronto have been charged.

Police have also identified 19-year-old Javontae Johnson of Oshawa, 27-year-old Terrrell Burke Whittaker of Brampton, and 30-year-old Glen Danchie of Toronto as suspects in the shooting and warrants have been issued for their arrest.

They are asking the public for help finding these people and for any information about the shooting as there are more suspects who have not yet been identified.
