The Newmarket Lions Club has donated $100,000 to the Inn From the Cold building fund, which will help the shelter complete its fundraising for the new facility that will be built on Yonge Street in Newmarket.

The Newmarket Lions have supported the Inn From the Cold since its inception, a news release stated.

The club regularly supports meals and other programs at the shelter.

At a recent meeting of the club, a cheque for $100,000 was presented to Ann Watson, executive director of Inn From the Cold, and Mayor John Taylor, who is the chair of the building committee. The money was raised through a Catch the Ace lottery.

"The Newmarket Lions Club is excited about the construction of the new Inn. It is going to be able to provide so many more programs to help transition people from the streets to permanent housing and jobs," said Rick Metcalfe, past-president of the Newmarket Lions Club.
