The Town of Newmarket is launching new software its says is user friendly for residents registering for recreation programs and making purchases such as fitness memberships and waste tags and bins.
Residents must create a new Xplor account, even if they were registered using the previous PLAY system, and are being encouraged to sign up now, before winter program registration opens on Dec. 7.
The town is providing sign-up tutorials on its website or residents can contact the customer service centre for assistance.
“This is a big step in making recreation and culture offerings more accessible,” said Colin Service, director of recreation and culture, in a news release. “We’ve heard feedback over the years about our previous system not meeting expectations; now with Xplor, users will have reliable access on an easy-to-use system. The convenience of this new system, along with its new features, is something that we’re excited to share with the community.”
With Xplor, users can:
- Search and register for recreation and culture activities, courses and events;
- Book available spaces and facilities;
- Purchase memberships, multi-visit passes and personal training passes;
- Manage memberships;
- Request refunds;
- Purchase items from the online store, including gift cards, waste bins and waste tags.
Residents who create an account by Nov. 22 will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of three $100 recreation and culture gift cards.

Oct. 27 – Create an Xplor account now
Nov. 23 – Users can purchase memberships, multi-visit passes, view drop-in programs, view facility availability and purchase online store items
Nov. 28 – Winter program offerings are available for viewing
Dec. 7 – Winter program registration opens for residents
Dec. 14 – Winter program registration opens for non-residents
