Newmarket cyclist spins on rollers for 24 hours for CMHA

Newmarket Eagle and national-level cyclist Mike Grimes once again is holding his own spinathon on his front porch in support of the CMHA's Mental Health in Motion

Despite the poor air quality currently affecting the GTA, Newmarket Eagle and national level cyclist Mike Grimes once again hopped on the rollers for a 24-hour spinathon in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association York South Simcoe.

This weekend's Mental Health in Motion event draws participants from across the area fundraising to ensure mental health services are available here.

After suffering a personal crisis in 2015, Grimes said he is motivated to support the cause because he was able to connect with mental health services through Southlake Regional Health Centre and CMHA York South Simcoe.

This is the second time he has participated in the annual fundraising event, the first being in 2019.

You couldn't miss him on his porch on Bayview Avenue, where he set up his rollers, and perched his bike precariously on top to ride for 24 hours starting Friday June 9 at 1 p.m. and ending Saturday at 1 p.m.

You can find out more information about participating in Mental Health for Motion on Sunday, June 11 at Ray Twinney Recreation Complex.
