Newmarket Car Club revs up Main drag (15 photos)

More than 100 cars of all descriptions lined Main Street yesterday for the Newmarket Car Club's annual show

Traffic on Newmarket's downtown Main Street came to a standstill yesterday for the annual Newmarket Car Club show.

More than 100 vehicles of all descriptions — from a candy apple red 1929 Ford Tudor and black 1939 Dodge D13 to a  1979 MGB Mk 4 and 2006 Ford Mustang sporting a skeleton motif — were parked curbside for strolling car enthusiasts to cast admiring looks and maybe peek under the hood, with Main Street closed to traffic for the afternoon.

The Newmarket Car Club, which is marking its 45th anniversary this August, will host two more show this summer: July 20 at Ray Twinney Recreation Complex and Aug. 24 at Fairy Lake Park.
