Newmarket business owner, Wayne Sudsbury of Homeguard Funding Ltd., has been Inducted to the 2019 Mortgage Hall of Fame. Wayne was selected by the members of the Canadian Mortgage Hall of Fame Academy in recognition for his contribution and service.
Wayne co-founded Homeguard Funding in 1983 as a full-service mortgage brokerage, specializing in small rural towns within York, Simcoe and Durham Regions. The company is built upon the core values of experience and knowledge clients can trust. Today, the team consists of 32 brokers/agents and six full-time staff members available to service clients with its head office located in Newmarket.
Giving back to his community is also important to Wayne. He especially enjoyed coaching minor sports teams. As such, for more than 10 years, he coached various hockey, lacrosse and baseball teams in Newmarket and East Gwillimbury. He has also been a member of several well-known community organizations, including the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Shrine Club Masonic Lodge and Newmarket Chamber of Commerce.
Throughout the years, Wayne has received numerous industry and company accolades, including being inducted into the Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association (CMBA) Hall of Fame and recognized for consistently high funded mortgage volume. He has also served on numerous lender advisory committees – ranging from big banks to broker-only lenders – as a trusted source with a solid pulse on the industry.
Homeguard Funding Ltd is a longtime business in Newmarket. The company was originally located at 22B Main St. After a fire, the company moved to 161 Davis Dr. for several years, after which Wayne Sudsbury and Bill Eves made the decision to purchase the historic Dr. Ballard home. We are now located on Dawson Manor Drive in this lovely old home.
