NEWS RELEASE
CENTRAL YORK FIRE SERVICES

Central York Fire Services (CYFS) will be commemorating the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 in New York by observing a moment of silence to reflect and honour the fallen, the survivors who were working that fateful day and the families affected. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attack where 343 New York City Fire Department Firefighters and over 2500+ lives were lost on that horrific day.

“This year and every year, CYFS remembers and reflects on the tragedy of the 9/11 attacks and the many lives lost,” says Fire Chief Ian Laing. “Many brave emergency personnel went to work that day, with one goal in mind, to save as many lives as possible even though many knew they may not make it home. Their dedication and courage displayed that day are like no other and CYFS is proud to serve and memorialize these brave individuals. Together, we will continue to work toward a safer, kinder and resilient world.”
