The Town of Newmarket is set to announce a partnership with a “nationally recognized organization” involving the historic Mulock House.

The municipality is planning to make an announcement Aug. 24 on the Mulock park property, where Mayor John Taylor will sign a memorandum of understanding to establish the partnership. The details of the partner and what that will entail will be revealed at that time.

The partner will “bring the future of the historic Mulock House into focus,” the town said in a media advisory, “and help further the development of the Mulock Park as a destination for residents and the GTA.”

The town is making renovations on the historic house later this year as the centrepiece of the $40-million park to keep it in good repair. There are also future plans to add accessibility features and a commercial kitchen for park visitors. The town plans for the house have also included an “adaptive reuse” of the building with a cultural tenant indoors.

Work on the Mulock park project has been ongoing, with council endorsing a public art plan in May The project is in a detailed design stage with a targeted construction start of 2023.

The announcement at the park site next week is invite-only. NewmarketToday will provide coverage of the event that night.
