Those excited to visit the new luxury hotel coming to Newmarket’s downtown will have to wait a little longer.

The Postmark Hotel opening is being moved to 2024. The hotel has maintained construction for several months, but after targeting to open this year, it announced this month that opening would be delayed.

“We promise it will be worth the wait,” the hotel said on social media. “We’re meticulous by nature, and we want to make sure everything is perfect for our guests.”

The opening date from the hotel has been pushed back several times. After pacing for a June opening back in February 2023, the opening was pushed again to the fall of this year due to construction delays.

Residents responded with excitement for the opening despite some disappointment.

“While slightly disappointed we can’t have Christmas cocktails there this year, I can’t wait to see the finished product,” one resident said in response to the announcement on social media.

“You are such a welcome addition to Historic Main Street and Newmarket,” local business Olive Oil Co. said in response. “We can’t wait for the opening so we can stop by and celebrate.”

Added downtown parking to accommodate the hotel is also not yet in place. The town is planning to remove the tennis facility for more parking, but that will not happen until a replacement facility is ready, which was delayed until next spring. The hotel will have its own parking on-site, but the town is exploring options to accommodate more parking in the area during the time the hotel is open before the parking lot expansion happens.

The hotel continues to participate in community events, with plans to offer complimentary hot chocolate on its patio during the Santa Claus Parade Nov. 18.

“Thank you for hanging in there! We can’t wait to welcome you once we’re ready,” Postmark said
