'Minor' schedule changes start on GO lines this weekend

Metrolinx announced adjustments to schedules on the Milton, Barrie and Stouffville GO train lines will begin Saturday, Jan. 6

Local commuters who depend on GO Transit can expect some changes to the schedule in 2024.

Metrolinx, which manages and operates the service, announced tadjustments to schedules on the Milton, Barrie and Stouffville GO train lines will begin Saturday, Jan. 6.

“The Barrie and Stouffville lines will see minor time adjustments to some trips in early January. We are also increasing the length of some trains on the Kitchener  Line to meet increasing demand,” Metrolinx officials stated in a news release.

Construction at the Maple GO station will create door restrictions at the station, therefore weekday trips on the Barrie Line may leave one minute earlier or one  minute later.

Commuters using the Milton Line will notice that trips will be 10 minutes faster at some stops now that recent maintenance work is complete, enabling trains to return to regular speeds.

Several GO bus routes will also be adjusted as customers return to school and work in response to demand. This includes reinstating bus service on routes serving post-secondary institutions, which were reduced during the holiday season.

For passengers needing to get from Union Station to Pearson Airport, Metrolinx has announced beginning Jan. 7, it is increasing late-night service until 1 a.m., which means riders will have more travel flexibility, seven days a week.
