March fun includes Taste of Georgina, Link market, toboggan races

There is plenty to do in Georgina this month, from March break activities and the Link Market Spring Edition to Taste of Georgina and Try it March at the MURC.

Taste of Georgina

Taste of Georgina continues until March 7, celebrating and promoting Georgina’s diverse cuisines by profiling dining experiences at a range of prix fixe price points. Each participating restaurant has prepared special menus that showcase its offerings.

Registration for spring recreation programs, summer camps

The Town of Georgina has a great lineup of recreation, culture and leadership programs, as well as summer camps for all ages and abilities. Registration for residents opens March 5 at 8:30 a.m. and for non-residents on March 12 at 8:30 a.m. Visit georgina.ca/recreation for more.

Stephen Leacock Theatre of Performing Arts

Check out the great shows at the Stephen Leacock Theatre of Performing Arts. Choir! Choir! Choir! performs March 8. There are other great shows to choose from as well, from tribute bands to musicals. To learn more, visit georgina.ca/SLT.

Try it March at the MURC

The month of March will offer many free ‘try it’ activities, including swimming, basketball and pickleball. Visitors will also be able to try a variety of MakerSpace technology including 3D printers, button makers and Cricut machines at the Discovery Library branch.

March break

Are you looking to keep your family busy during March break? There are lots of indoor and outdoor activities to keep everyone entertained. Registration for March break camps is open.

Feel like a swim? Take a dip at a public swim session at the Georgina Leisure Pool or the Multi-use Recreation Complex. 

Check out public skate opportunities at the Georgina Ice Palace and Sutton Arena or Pefferlaw Ice Pad.

The ROC will be open daily March 11 to 15 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for tubing, snowboarding and skiing or free tobogganing and skating, weather permitting.

Visit the brand-new Discovery Branch Library to see what you can create in Maker Space. Throughout March break, Georgina Public Library will offer a variety of programs at all four branches. And, of course, your library always has books, movies and more available to download, stream, or take home to enjoy with your family.

The ROC

The ROC is open Wednesday to Friday from 4:30 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 9 is the annual Cardboard Toboggan Races. Awards will be presented for fastest, farthest distance, most creative, largest and ROC bottom entries. For a full list of rules and regulations and registration form, visit georgina.ca/events. This event runs weather permitting. Be sure to watch for details on the puddle jump later in March.

The Link Market — Spring Edition

Link Market – Spring Edition is on Sunday, March 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy this popular one-of-a-kind shopping experience right in the heart of Georgina. Find gifts and treasures from local artisans, chefs, gardeners, farmers and more. A great Sunday, outing including live music, food demos and more.

Easter swim

Come out to the public swim and in-water Easter egg hunt on Sunday, March 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Multi-use Recreation Complex. There will also be various activities, games, colouring and Easter fun in the gym. Pre-registration is recommended for swims. Wristband and regular admission fee and policy apply to all swims.
