WEATHER ALERT

********************************
Weather advisory in effect for:
    •    Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region
    •    Vaughan - Richmond Hill - Markham

Winter weather travel advisory in effect for tonight.

Hazards:
Local snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm.
Reduced visibility in heavy snow and local blowing snow.
Icy and slippery road conditions.

Timing:
This evening into early Tuesday morning.

Discussion:
Rain showers are expected to quickly change to snow this afternoon or evening as colder air moves into southern Ontario. Snow may become heavy at times this evening or overnight. Increasing northwest winds gusting 50 to 60 km/h may result in localized areas of blowing snow in exposed areas.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

For road conditions and other traveller information from the Ministry of Transportation, visit ontario.ca/511, twitter.com/511Ontario, or call 5-1-1.
