Young Stouffville actor Glee Dango is starring in a new teen comedy on YTV.

Popularity Papers is based on a best-selling book series of the same name by Amy Ignatow.

“The Popularity Papers book franchise has captured the hearts of many around the world through  relatable middle-school woes and hilarious circumstances, and we’re excited to deliver the same  sentimentality through the live action series here in Canada,” said Colin Bohm, EVP of content and corporate strategy, Corus Entertainment.

It follows the fictional lives of middle-schoolers Julie Graham-Chang and Lydia Goldblatt on their quest to figure out what makes someone popular.

Julie is played by Glee Dango. Despite her young age, the 12-year-old already has a number of big credits to her name, including Odd Squad Mobile Unit, Ukulele U, Thomas & Friends All Engines Go! and other shows for Nickelodeon, Disney Jr. Netflix and Treehouse.

She has also danced in international competitions and gave a presentation at the White House.

In an Instagram post about the show, Dango said, "I can't believe it is happening" and that she is "so proud to be able to help bring this POPULAR book series by the amazing [Amy Ignatow] to screen."

Popularity Papers also stars Mia Bella, Millie Davis, Jenna Weir, Callum Shoniker, Seth Murchison, Lyla Elliot, Keegan Hedley, Chris River, Pierre Drivas and Dave Barclay.

It premiers in Canada on YTV and STACKTV on April 10 at 6 p.m.
