Here's what you can and can't do in step 2 as of Wednesday

On June 30, we welcome the return of haircuts, shopping at the mall, outdoor gathering up to 25 people, patio dining up to 6 per table

We welcome the return off of hair cuts, mall shopping and increased social gathering numbers outdoors as of today, June 30, as Newmarket, York Region and most of Ontario moves into step 2 of the province's reopening strategy.

Step two focuses on reopening indoor spaces with limited numbers and face coverings, as well as expands outdoor activities.

For the second step, the key provincial vaccination rate target is 70 per cent of adults with one dose of the vaccine and 20 per cent fully vaccinated.

Here's what you can do in step 2: 

  • Attend outdoor social gatherings and organized public events for up to 25 people
  • Attend indoor social gatherings and organized public events for up to five people 
  • Dine outdoor dining with up to six people at a table
  • Sing karaoke outdoors, with some restrictions
  • Shop at essential and other select retail at 50 per cent capacity 
  • Shop at non-essential retail stores with capacity at 25 per cent 
  • Shop at stores in shopping malls, with restrictions
  • Attend indoor religious services, rites or ceremonies, including wedding and funeral services, at 25 per cent capacity. Outdoors, the cap is at the number of people that can maintain two metres of physical distance.
  • Attend an overnight camp
  • Book a personal care service appointment, with capacity limited to 25 per cent and face coverings
  • Attend an outdoor fitness classes capped at the number of people who can maintain three metres of distance 
  • Go to a public library, capped at 25 per cent capacity 
  • Attend an event at outdoor meeting and event spaces at 25 per cent capacity 
  • Go to outdoor amusement and water parks, limited to 25 per cent capacity
  • Play outdoor sports games, leagues and events capped at 25 per cent capacity
  • Go to outdoor cinemas, performing arts, live music events and attractions limited to 25 per cent capacity 

What you still can't do in stage 2: 

  • Go to a casino, bingo hall or gaming establishment
  • Go to an indoor cinema
  • Attend an indoor gym or fitness class
