'Helping to provide critical health care': Physiotherapy clinic opens in Newmarket

Sports & Spinal Solutions Clinic owner Amir Ahmadkhah says he was determined to open his new business despite the challenges of the pandemic

Amir Ahmadkhah said it’s thanks to his stubbornness that he was able to open a business during the pandemic.

He celebrated the grand opening of Sports & Spinal Solutions Clinic at 712 Davis Dr. today, Thursday, Nov. 4, but he has already been seeing patients there.

‘We were kind of stubborn and just didn’t give up,” he said about opening during the pandemic.

Ahmadkhah worked as a registered physiotherapist in Keswick before opening his new clinic, so he said he is already with the town and is excited to be a part of the community.

“I live in Oak Ridges, so it’s very close but I’m trying to move to Newmarket... and just be a part of Newmarket,” he said.

Mayor John Taylor attended the grand opening to cut the ribbon and shared a few words of welcome.

“We recognize the amount of work and your own energy and risk that you’re putting into this and you’re helping to build our local economy, but more importantly in this case, to provide critical health care to the residents of Newmarket, which is so important,” Taylor said. “We want to thank you immensely for choosing Newmarket and investing here and we want you to know that we’ll be here to support you.”

Newmarket-Aurora MP Tony Van Bynen said, “As the former mayor I understand how important it is to have people show confidence in our community and invest in our community and create jobs and options for our community. That’s what makes Newmarket and Canada stronger."

The clinic offers not only sports therapy services, but also physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage services, and there’s a cosmetics specialist working at the clinic as well, with team members who have more than 20 years of experience in their fields.

Sports & Spinal Solutions Clinic is also a family-run operation, with Ahmadkhah’s wife, Masoumeh Yazdankhah, working as their office manager.
