York Region and the United Way Greater Toronto want to hear your pitches for projects to help the Newmarket Heights community.

The Newmarket neighbourhood will be the target of quick action grants, according to the Newmarket Community Action Table. The grants aim to fund initiatives to boost the community.

In total, the community will get at least six $2,000 grants, for a total of at least $12,000. This round of grants must focus on mental well-being and housing stability.

"The purpose of the quick-action grants is to provide residents and agencies with resources to implement their ideas that address two critical issues," the action table said on its website.

The grants stem from efforts under York Region’s community safety and well-being plan, which targets communities in the region in need of support. Previous Newmarket quick action grants have included social events and a wellness group.

The action table will accept grant applications until Sept. 14 at linkingnewmarket.ca/quick-action-grants. Funding can be given to resident groups or agencies.

You can also register for two information Zoom sessions at the same link, happening Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Sept. 7 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Projects must be completed by February 2024. You can contact [email protected] for more information or the application.
