GO train service suspension will affect travel to Toronto this weekend

Barrie line GO trains will halt service at Rutherford, GO bus will replace train service on Stouffville line, and less frequent UP Express will be available April 13 and 14, Metrolinx says

Metrolinx is temporarily suspending GO train service this weekend, April 13 and 14, on portions of the Barrie line and on the Stouffville line for critical track work along the corridors.

As well, less frequent UP Express service will be offered on the weekend between Toronto Pearson Airport and Union Station.

Regular service will resume on Monday, April 15 for both Barrie and Stouffville GO train lines, Metrolinx said in a news advisory.

Barrie line

On Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, Barrie rail service will be temporarily suspended between Rutherford GO and Union Station for signal work along the corridor. The work is part of the GO expansion program that will provide all-day rapid transit.

During this time, Barrie line trains will continue to run between Rutherford GO and Allandale Waterfront GO stations on a reduced schedule.

  • GO Buses will run between Aurora GO and Rutherford GO to Highway 407 Bus Terminal
  • If you are travelling to Union Station: At Highway 407 Bus Terminal, transfer to TTC Line 1 subway to continue your journey to Toronto.

Stouffville line

Stouffville GO train service is suspended Saturday and Sunday for maintenance and enhancing rail infrastructure to prepare for future double tracking.

During this time, GO Bus Route 71 will replace train service and will only stop at Old Elm, Stouffville, Mount Joy, Markham, Centennial, Unionville GO stations, before running express to Union Station Bus Terminal.

Customers travelling to and from Milliken, Agincourt and Kennedy GO stations are encouraged to use the TTC.

  • GO Bus Route 71E will serve Union Station Bus Terminal, Unionville, Centennial, Markham, and Mount Joy GO stations.
  • GO Bus Route 71C will serve Union Station Bus Terminal, Unionville, Centennial, Markham, Mount Joy, Stouffville, and Old Elm GO stations.

Riders can transfer for free with One Fare between GO Transit and TTC. Customers are encouraged to use gotransit.com or triplinx.ca to plan their trips. You can also check the GO Transit Service Updates page for real-time details.

UP Express

In addition, on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, UP Express train schedules will be depart every 30 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, for work required in preparation for the future Ontario Line subway.

Trains to Toronto Pearson Airport: The first train will leave Union Station at 6 a.m., with 30-minute departures until 1 a.m.

Trains to Union Station: The first train will leave Toronto Pearson Airport at 6:27 a.m., with 30-minute departures until 12:57 a.m.
