Cheer on the hometown team this weekend as the Battle of Yonge Street hockey tourney returns.
The Newmarket Renegades and Aurora Tigers are squaring off once for the 15th time to claim to the coveted cup, with games underway in both towns throughout the weekend. In Newmmarket, drop by the Magna Centre to catch a game or two, and bring a donation for the Newmarket Food Pantry.
At the end of the weekend, officials will tally the scores between the two sides. One town gets declared the winner based on how many games their teams win. A trophy will then be presented at the final game.
This year will be a tiebreaker, with both sides having won the event seven times each.
