TOWN OF EAST GWILLIMBURY

The Town of East Gwillimbury celebrated the official opening of two parks: Ridge View Phase 2 and Vista Hills.
Located in Holland Landing, less than 600 metres apart, each park offers a number of amenities, including play structures, sports activities, and games areas. Ridge View Park features tennis courts, climbing equipment, a walking loop and a multi-use court that will be flooded during the winter months for outdoor skating. Vista Hills Park has a shade structure, grassed yoga area, an outdoor classroom and games tables for ping pong and chess. Vista Hills Park also boasts several sensory features, including a sandbox with buried dinosaur bones and a sensory walk highlighting each of the five senses.
“Every person in East Gwillimbury should feel that they belong,” said Mayor Virginia Hackson. “And a park is one of those places where the feeling of belonging is even more important. I’m excited about opening these two new parks in EG and thrilled that the features are suitable for residents of all ages and abilities.”
The cost of the Ridge View Park was $1.7 million, and the cost to construct the Vista Hills Park was $1.3 million. Funding for both parks came from development charges collected from Holland Green Developments. Development charges (DC) play an important role in our community as it grows. The DCs the Town collects go toward funding the amenities we use every day and enjoy including our roads, parks, trails, and facilities.
