Davis Drive closes Sunday morning for Run for Southlake

Davis Drive in Newmarket will be closed tomorrow morning as hundreds of participants walk and run to raise money for their community hospital.

To make way for the Nature's Emporium Run for Southlake on Sunday, April 30, Davis from Parkside Drive/Longford Drive to Leslie Street will be closed to traffic eastbound and westbound for the Run for Southlake from 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., with alternative routes available on Green Lane and Mulock Drive.

More than 1,200 participants are registered for the 5-kilometre event, which begins and ends at the Newmarket Senior's Meeting Place at 474 Davis Dr. and extends along the road past Southlake Regional Health Centre.

There is no on-site parking at the Seniors Meeting Place. Free parking is available across the street at the Tannery Mall, at 465 Davis Dr. Entry and exit to the parking lot closes at 7:45 a.m. and reopens at approximately 10:30 a.m.

As of April 29, the run has raised more than $214,000 toward its $300,000 goal.

Southlake Foundation supports the most urgent needs of the hospital, including life-saving medical equipment, infrastructure upgrades and expansions, patient programs and staff education.

Davis will reopen at approximately 11:30 a.m.
