The Bubbles and Smiles tutored tasting and culinary event returns April 24 to raise awareness and funds to help end seniors’ isolation through community social and wellness programs.

Participants will taste a variety of champagne and bubbles from around the world, learn a little history, and enjoy a curated selection of hors d'oeuvre pairings selected by Aurora Armoury chef Soohyeong Lee, in support of CHATS (Community and Home Assistance to Seniors) programs for seniors across York Region and south Simcoe, according to a news release.

The interactive event is being led by sommelier Ben Plisky-Somers, the wine principle and co-owner of Bossanova Wine and Beer in Toronto at the historic Aurora Armoury.

“Like most seniors, my mom did not want to move from her home, but living on her own, without help, was no longer viable. Unfortunately, the community where she lived did not have the types of supports, she needed.,” said Colleen Jones, who founded the event while serving as a CHATS board member.

The event will be held Wednesday, April 24 at The Armoury, 89 Mosley St. Tickets are $200 each or $1,600 for a table of eight. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the event starts at 7 p.m.
