CHATS golf tournament raises record $45K for seniors services

Proceeds of the 9th annual Tim Jones Golf Tournament to help purchase wheelchair van

Players at Community & Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS) annual charity golf tournament teed up for transportation, raising a record $45,000 to help purchase a new wheelchair van.

The new van will provide transportation for seniors in the community, as well as support the Home At Last and Meals on Wheels programs.

“I truly appreciate all those who participated and ... contributed to this event in support of CHATS and its phenomenal transportation service for seniors,” said Tim Jones, the former director of development at CHATS and namesake of the tournament on his retirement.

The ninth annual Tim Jones Golf Tournament took place Sept. 12 at Mill Run Golf Club. Despite the rainy weather, more than 100 golfers came together with CHATS staff and volunteers for breakfast, golf, a barbecue lunch and silent auction.

In total, over the past nine years, the tournament has raised more than $222,000 through sponsorships, donations and golfer registration.
