Cardinal Collins to deliver mass marking Catholic board's 50th

His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto and honorary chair of the York Catholic District School Board, will help mark the local board's 50th anniversary with a special mass open to the public.

The mass will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 4:30 p.m. at St. David’s Parish, 2601 Major Mackenzie Dr. W., in Maple.

A gala will follow at the Terrace Banquet Centre with several hundred guests expected to attend, including public officials and local dignitaries. 

This important milestone is a celebration of half a century of Catholic education in York Region and of the many accomplishments of students and staff throughout the board’s history.

The event will feature speeches by significant figures in York Catholic's history, media presentations as well as a large display of historical artifacts from local schools across the board.

The York Catholic board's 50th anniversary celebration coincides with Catholic Education Week, which is being celebrated across Ontario from May 5 to 10.
