Talented street performers will once again be making their way to Newmarket’s downtown Main Street this summer as Busk Till Dusk begins June 1.

The annual municipal program will see a variety of buskers performing every Friday and Saturday night on Main Street from 5 to 7 p.m. The program will run from June through to Aug. 31.

“We’re turning street corners into centre stage,” the Town of Newmarket said on social media, adding on its website that "Our Busk till Dusk program allows local talent, new and experienced to showcase their talent on historical Main Street throughout the summer."

The program has run for several years, with local and regional street performers taking to the streets to offer weekend entertainment.

Although every week already has performers lined up, the town said performers can apply by messaging [email protected], for more information.

“With 21 evenings and multiple designated performer areas available on Main Street, it's a great opportunity for approved musicians and performers to get back out in the community and showcase their talent,” the town said on its website.

The first weekend June 1 will feature Stephen Milligan of Silver Penny and Manny DeGrandis.

“We are thrilled to be playing the kickoff day this year, June 1,” Milligan said on Facebook. “We love Busk Till Dusk!"

The shows are free, though patrons are encouraged to leave tips for the performers.

More information and a full lineup of performers is available on the town website.
