Blue Door's Coldest Night walk raises $160K to help homeless

Walkers get their feet in motion on the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser in Richmond Hill Feb. 25 for Blue Door.

Blue Door supporters braved the cold to raise $161,538 — surpassing the goal of $150,000 — to help provide life-saving support for those in the community experiencing homelessness at the Coldest Night of the Year walk Feb. 25 in Richmond Hill.

The top fundraising team was led by Blue Door CEO Michael Braithwaite, who told the 393 people who walked that “this is the impact of community.” 

Jessica, one of Mosaic Interfaith Out of the Cold’s clients, told participants how she was able overcame her hardships with the help of the Blue Door programs supported by the annual fundraising event.

The event was also attended by Richmond Hill MP Majid Jowhari, Markham-Unionville MP Paul Chiang, Richmond Hill MPP Daisy Wai, Thornhill MPP Laura Smith, Richmond Hill Mayor David West, Councillor Michael Shiu, Councillor Simon Cui, York Regional Police Deputy Chief Paolo DaSilva and other York Regional Police leaders and officers.
