If you are in need of a new green bin or blue box, you can buy one from the Town of Newmarket at a discounted rate this week.
The sale continues until this Saturday, June 11. You can buy a blue box for $8.25, down from the usual $11, a large green bin for $16.50, down from $22, and a kitchen green bin for $3, down from $6.50.
The sale is in honour of this week's Canadian Environment Week, which was established in 1971 to celebrate Canada's environmental accomplishments while encouraging Canadians to contribute to conservation efforts.
The government of Canada's website includes information on how you can participate in Enivronment Week, including learning about food waste, preventing pollution, spending time in a national park, learning from Indigenous knowledge, and following environmental tips.
Locally, you can do your part by recycling and using green bins to reduce waste. You can place your order by calling 905-895-5193 or emailing [email protected]. There is a limit of two per household.
Products will be delivered to your door by GFL, which handles waste management in Newmarket.
