Acclaimed theatre actor and director Lee Wilson is returning home to Newmarket to host a one-day acting workshop on July 29.

The Newmarket International Festival of One Act Plays is hosting a one-day workshop with acclaimed actor and director and Newmarket native Lee Wilson at the Newmarket Public Library on Saturday, July 29.

Wilson, an accomplished and acclaimed theatre actor, director and writer, is returning to his hometown to give back. The workshop is designed to advance the knowledge and skill of actors and directors in their craft, according to a news release.

An assistant professor of acting at the University of Windsor, Wilson founded the Resurgence Theatre in Newmarket where he directed critically acclaimed productions of Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and Romeo and Juliet. In 2013, he was nominated by his peers for the Christopher Plummer Fellowship Award for his outstanding contribution to the classics and Shakespeare performances in Canada. 

The workshop is $129 with all proceeds going to the Newmarket International Festival of One Act Plays. 

Produced by the Very Useful Theatre Company, the Newmarket International Festival of One Act Plays is an annual one act play festival held in Newmarket. It’s set to run Sept. 7 to 10 this year.
