2 York Region homes featured in ranking of most expensive houses

When ranked by price, a $12.9M home in Vaughan came in 6th

A new report from Point2 Homes highlights the most expensive houses on the market in Canada's most populous cities, which included two properties in York Region.

One home for sale in Vaughan made the top 10 for being the most expensive compared to other major municipalities across the Canada, according to the report. The home in question is located at 139 Coldspring Rd. and it's listed for $12,998,888.

The house is more than 10,000 square feet, features six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a theatre, fitness centre, conservatory and more.

Point2 analysts looked at the most populous cities in Canada and then most expensive houses in each of those cities. Ranked by price, the property in Vaughan came in sixth place after houses in Mississauga, Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto and Oakville.

In 11th ranking is a house in Markham at 45 Cachet Pkwy. priced at $8,280,000.

The 12,000-square-foot house has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a sauna, gym, wine cellar, entertainment room and more.

In all of Ontario, the most expensive home — and second most expensive in Canada — on the market right now is a French palace-inspired estate in Mississauga. The mansion at 2275 Doultan Dr. is listed at $37.5 million.

It features seven bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, a nightclub, and Italian marble floors among many other luxurious features.

Ontario listings make up most of the list of expensive homes for sale in Canada’s largest cities, with 10 out of the top 25. Among them is a lavish Toronto home with a heated driveway and no less than 14 garages, and an Ottawa home boasting 835 feet of waterfront.

Despite the hefty price tags, the properties "still move pretty fast," according to Point2.
