York Region's 21 forest tracts are closed, effective immediately, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The closure by the Regional Municipality of York, which is in effect until further notice, will help to ensure residents continue to practise physical distancing of at least 2 metres (6 feet) space even when outdoors.

The trails at 18 of the properties, which encompass 2,300 hectares of land, are popular for walking and hiking, dog walking, bird watching, horseback riding and biking.

The York Regional Forest tracts include:

  • Bendor and Graves Tract, Kennedy Road, East Gwillimbury
  • Brownhill Tract, Ravenshoe Road, East Gwillimbury
  • Hollidge Tract at 16389 Highway 48 (north of Aurora Road), Whitchurch-Stouffville
  • North Tract at 17054 Highway 48 (south of Davis Drive), Whitchurch-Stouffville
  • Hall Tract at 15681 McCowan Road (north of Aurora Road), Whitchurch-Stouffville
