A York Region Transit rider has been confirmed positive for COVID-19 after travelling on bus several routes Oct. 15 to 17.
York Region Public Health is unable to identify all riders on the routes and has issued a public notice to assist with contact tracing of the case that was confirmed Thursday, Oct. 22.
The individual with a COVID-19 infection wore a mask during all bus trips — it's likely other riders also did due to the mandatory requirement for face coverings by YRT — which can reduce the possibility of transmission to others, according to public health.
There is a low risk of exposure to the public, however, if you travelled on the following routes, monitor yourself for new or worsening signs and symptoms related to COVID-19 until Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020 (14 days after last possible exposure).
If you are currently experiencing symptoms, self-isolate immediately and seek assessment and testing at a COVID-19 assessment centre.
This is the fourth public health notice issued in relation to a YRT user confirmed positive with COVID-19 since Sept. 23.
York Region Public Health is issuing this public notice for individuals riding the following YRT bus routes:
Oct. 15, 2020:
- YRT Route 85 from Rutherford Road and Ilan Ramon Boulevard to Vaughan Mills Station at approximately 7:30 a.m.
- YRT Route 4 from Vaughan Mills Station to Bathurst Street and Major Mackenzie Drive at approximately 6:45 p.m.
- YRT Route 88 from Bathurst Street and Major Mackenzie Drive to Rutherford Road and Ilan Roman Boulevard at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Oct. 16, 2020:
- YRT Route 85 from Rutherford Road and Ilan Ramon Boulevard to Vaughan Mills Station at approximately 8:20 a.m.
- YRT Route 20 from Jane Street and Locke Street to Vaughan Mills Station at approximately 6:30 p.m.
- YRT Route 85 from Vaughan Mills Station to Rutherford Road and Ilan Roman Boulevard at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 17, 2020:
- YRT Route 88 from Bathurst Street and Lebovic Campus Drive to Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West at approximately 10:50 a.m.
- TTC Route 7 southbound from Greenwin Village Road and Bathurst Street to 555 Finch Avenue West at approximately 11:30 a.m. to 11:40 a.m.
- TTC Route 7 northbound from Bathurst Street and Finch Avenue West to Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West at approximately 2:30 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.
- YRT Route 88 from Finch Go Bus Terminal to Bathurst Street and Lebovic Campus Drive at approximately 3 p.m.
